We can’t say enough good things about South Africa so far and Wilderness might be our favorite spot on the Garden Route. Aside from the peaceful beach, mountain, and forest landscapes that are easy on the eye, the quiet seaside town even has a natural map of the continent in which it is located. You don’t need to squint very hard to see the resemblance between the mountain outline formed by the river and the outline you find in an atlas. The location is actually a look out point at the top of a mountain and is a very popular paragliding spot with fabulous views of the ocean on the other side. There is signage leading to the spot so it’s easy to find and then marvel at this map image of Africa.
Por todas as cidades que passamos aqui na África do Sul, podemos dizer que tudo é muito maravilhoso, mas Wilderness tem algo especial. Aqui você econtra praia, montanha, tem floresta, passáros de várias espécies, golfinhos e baleias, a ponte famosa, e também o mapa da África. Podemos até chamar de “Mapa do Brasil”, porque são bem parecidos, mas como estamos aqui é melhor nem discutir. Foi incrível quem olhou para essa montanha e imaginou o contorno do rio lá embaixo faria o formato do mapa, porque realmente é impressionante. E para o nosso conforto, nossa pousada fica ao topo da montanha, ao lado do grandioso mapa, porém, nossa vista é para o mar.
