Encarnación is considered to be Paraguay’s most attractive city and is known as the Carnaval Capital of the country with thousands showing up for the annual celebration. We missed this year’s festivities but we did get to enjoy the recently completed riverside promenade and its fabulous river beach. The city’s simple tranquility and the picturesque waterfront boardwalk are just a couple of reasons it has become the tourism capital of the country. Just a short jaunt on a local bus across the river from Posadas, Argentina, we visited for a day but preferred the Paraguayan side’s humbleness and simplicity. We were surprised at how little activity there was during the weekend but we enjoyed taking it easy for a few days while getting to know the pleasant and relaxed place.
Conhecida com a cidade do Carnaval Paraguaio, assim é Encarnacion. E além da celebração anual, a praia é outra atração muito popular. Mas, como ter praia se não estamos na costa?? A água tranquila e doce vem diretamente do belissímo Rio Paraná. Como toda cidade pequena, tudo aqui é pequeno e sossegado. Depois do trabalho os locais saem para dar uma caminhada no calcadão e aproveitar a tranquilidade beira-mar/rio. Do outro lado do rio, temos a cidade de Posadas, Argentina, que particularmente no nosso passeio de um dia, já se notou a diferença de uma cidade mais agitada, com pessoas não tão simples, tão pouco humildes. O lado paraguaio é bem mais agradável, e preferimos muito mais! Ah, sem contar esse pôr do sol… que aproveitamos todos os dias!!!
