Day 200: Speed bump Drive-thru

It’s incredible to see creativity at work from inspired street vendors in Venezuela trying to make a buck.  We have been impressed with how people in the middle of the streets sell everything imaginable from cheese, Nestea, underwear, to even electric fly swatters.  Police checkpoints and speed bumps are commonplace along the roads and the forced reduction in speed provides a great opportunity for suppliers to showcase their goods.  If the car in front is making an extended order, you just pull around and continue on your way.  Everyone understands the drill and our friends are among the many that get their morning cup of “Joe” in the street.

Incrível ver a criatividade das pessoas quando se trata em vender algo. Aqui na Venezuela as ruas são estreitas e com muitas lombadas. E para passar nessas mesmas lombadas é necessário ir bem devagar porque as mesmas são muito altas. E aproveitando o ensejo, as pessoas ficam vendendo café, arepas e outros doces enquanto passam o obstáculo na rua. Não precisa nem ter farol para esperar vender as coisas, aqui a negociação é na lombada mesmo. Os motoristas que estão a esperar nem se importam porque irão comprar coisas também, então todo mundo se entende.
