On the way to Jaipur we read about the largest movie theater in all of India, The Raj Mandir Cinema. At our hotel we learned that the famous attraction was only a 10 minute walk so couldn’t miss catching a show at the “Pride of Asia”. Even though the theater holds more than 1,000 people, once we saw the hundreds of people waiting in lines at the ticket window, we were skeptical that we’d be able to get tickets. The best seats in the house are in the Diamond section and cost 150 Indian Rupees ($2.72) while we scored the more economical Emerald section seats for only 100 INR ($1.81) with the help of a nice Indian man and his family. The movie was the newest Bollywood release staring the Indian Tom Cruise and as soon as he made his first appearance in the opening scenes, everyone started to whistle and scream like we were at a live show. We soon figured out the experience is interactive and the hooting and hollering lasted throughout which added to the entertainment. The film was in Hindi so our new friend filled in the missing pieces for us and at over 3 hours, an intermission about half way through was appreciated. We discovered that Bollywood flicks can be quite entertaining and that it really is a movie going experience at the Raj Mandir.
No caminho para chegar em Jaipur, estávamos lendo sobre a maior sala de cinemas da Índia, o Raj Mandir Cinema. Quando chegamos no nosso hotel, descobrimos que o grande evento ficava à 10 minutos andando, então lá fomos nós para mais uma aventura e agora tentando assistir um filme que não tem nem legenda em inglês. Primeiro, precisamos esclarecer que indianos assitindo filme é como brasileiro assistindo jogo de futebol. Uma gritaria, falança total durante o filme inteiro, e sem falar nas risadas, aplausos e chororo que dá pra se escutar de longe. Chegamos lá para comprar os ingressos, e uma fila enorme, mas ainda existia uma luz no fim do túnel, porque existem mais de 1000 cadeiras no enorme cinema. Só olhei para Bryan e disse: – Vamos embora, não vamos conseguir. Mas que nada, não é que existem anjos indianos também?!! Tinha um senhor com seu filho, ao nosso lado e começamos a conversar com ele e perguntamos se a esposa dele (que estava na fila) poderia comprar os ingressos para nós (parecia um sonho, na Índia, ajuda de grátis?!! não pode ser verdade… rsrs). E não é que deu tudo certo, sem fila, sem negociação, sem comissão nem nada, estávamos lá, sentados, comendo pipoca e morrendo de rir com as risadas deles. Parecia que o filme era uma peça de teatro, muito engraçado. Nosso amigo ficou conversando conosco, nos dando várias dicas turísticas, super gente boa! E o filme? deu pra entender? Sim, com duração de 3 horas, porém lindo e o quando ficávamos perdidos, nosso amigo nos ajudava. Se você quiser assistir, nós recomendamos sim, mas se será a mesma emoção de assistir com os indianos ao seu lado, aí já não podemos garantir! Jab Tak Hai Jaan
