Day 335: ¡Bienvenidos a Mexico!

After hearing all the good things others had to say about San Cristóbal, we were excited to finally make it to the beautiful colonial city in Southern Mexico.  Set in a picturesque fertile valley surrounded by pine forest, the charming cobblestone streets, brightly painted buildings, colorful shops and markets, and ideal perpetual spring-time weather make it an ideal destination.  The traditional yet modern city blends longstanding Maya customs with cosmopolitan boardwalks, restaurants, and cafés to create a perfect combination.  Lucky for us, the neighborhood where we are staying is in the middle of a celebration so we’ve been enjoying the live Marimba music while munching on some tasty street food.  Distinctly Mexican, the laid-back atmosphere has enhanced our impression of our neighbor to the south.

Nosso tempo está acabando e precisamos correr um pouco mais para chegar em todos os lugares da nossa lista. Acabamos de chegar em San Cristóbal de Las Casas, no estado de Chiapas no México. No meio das montanhas, esse clima é maravilhoso. Um super sol durante o dia e um friozinho gostoso a noite. Cidade colonial, cheia de vida, com pinturas charmosas, mercados coloridos, e já é possível sentir o sabor mexicano. A tradicional cidade carrega em si muito mais do que os costumes Mayas, mas sim, um calçadão super metropolitado e pronto ao turismo. Em plena segunda-feira e as festas de bairro em frente a igreja só estão começando. Isso significa, banda de marimba animando a galera das 8 da manha até as 2 da madrugada. Ambiente distinto, e com a farofa rolando solta, nossa impressão de México se concretiza! ¡Bienvenidos a Mexico!
