Day 252: Big Mouth

Even though the most popular attractions of Cartagena are the Walled City, its historical center, and the streets that remind visitors of the colonial past, Boca Grande is becoming a focal point for visitors and is a stark contrast to the old city.  It is one of the most developed zones around with fancy restaurants, clubs, and hotels that front the sandy beaches.  American oil executives and their families started making the area fashionable in the 1950s and today it is the distinctly “modern” side of Cartagena.

E quem disse que Miami é só na Florida? São várias lojas, restaurantes, shoppings, e discotecas, assim é Boca Grande, a Miami de Colômbia. São quilômetros de areia vulcânica e com uma cor meio acinzentada e fazendo a água parecer barenta, embora não seja. Embora a principal atração de Cartagena seja a cidade muralhada e sua história, BG é muito conhecido por receber as participantes do concurso Miss Colômbia todos os anos. Mesmo sendo um pouco longe do centro da cidade, é legal ir visitar e fazer um pouco de exercício.
